Blog marco del Grupo de Trabajo online "The Chest of Games: sharing and learning games for the Infant and Primary English Class"
Brush or wash..: The main objetive of this game is to work daily routines and remember related vocabulary. This is a difficult task with 4- and 5-year-olds, but pictures or flash cards can be kept in class so that the children get used to them and remember the vocabulary.
We can make the drawings or have 4 flashcards in which two of them the main action is with the verb wash and another two in which the verb or action is brush.
In one drawing or flash card the action it will be Wash your hands, in another it will be Wash your face and in another two with the brush action it will be Brush your teeth and brush your hair. After working on the actions of the drawings for several days and repeating the action that each drawing represents as in a mirror, this game is played which consists of distributing the four flash cards among the students, they must stand in front of the others but cover the drawing to their classmates.
Then one by one he asks a colleague who they want, of those who are standing, Do you have brush your teeth? If the answer is no, the next student is who can ask to the same partner or change to another.
The game ends when all the flashcards or actions have been told because it is necessary to remember those that have already been said and have been eliminated to remember those that are still in the game.
I attach an example although we will use the action: Brush your hair to make it easier for children to learn this vocabulary at first.
To work the daily routines, the hours and the present simple, create this small board.
Students must roll a die twice and depending on the two numbers they have to create a present simple sentence with the routine, the subject and the time they have been given.
In addition, with the students of higher grades, we can vary and ask for sentences in negative, interrogative and affirmative.
